What does a smart thermostat do?

A smart thermostat connects to your Wi-Fi and lets you control your heating from your phone, set schedules, and in some cases learn your habits automatically. Most also show you how much energy you are using and let you adjust the temperature remotely - useful if you are coming home earlier or later than planned.

Manufacturers claim 20-30% savings, but real-world figures are typically 10-15% for a household that already uses a programmer. The biggest savings come from:

• Not heating an empty house (geofencing or away detection)
• Reducing overnight temperatures automatically
• Heating zones - only warming the rooms you are using

If you currently use a basic timer or leave the heating on all day, the savings will be higher.

Do they work with any boiler?

Most smart thermostats work with standard combi and system boilers. Some older boilers with unusual wiring may need an adapter. We will check compatibility during the quote visit and handle the full installation.
