What to do while you wait
Burst pipe or major leak
Turn off the water at the stopcock (usually under the kitchen sink). Open all taps to drain the system. If water is near electrics, turn off the power at the consumer unit. Move valuables out of the way and mop up what you can.
Boiler breakdown
Switch the boiler off at the unit. Check the pressure gauge - if it is below 1 bar, try repressurising using the filling loop. If you smell gas, do not touch any switches. Open windows, leave the house, and call the Gas Emergency line (0800 111 999) from outside before calling us.
Smell gas?
Do not touch any switches or create sparks. Open windows and doors. Leave the property immediately. Call the National Gas Emergency line on 0800 111 999 from outside. Then call us on 01932 943 009 and we will come out to inspect and repair.
Radiator or pipe leak
Put a container underneath the leak. If it is coming from a valve, try tightening it gently with a spanner. If the radiator itself has sprung a leak, turn off both valves (the TRV and the lockshield) to isolate it.
